Provider Education

Continuing Medical Education is an important aspect of staying up to date in your profession.  Below are some of the online courses our physicians have found helpful.

CMS Documentation Guidelines - Medicare, Medicaid and most third party payors will allow you to follow either 1995 or 1997 guidelines for documentation purposes.  KLA suggests that its clients implement the 1997 guidelines because they are more quantitative and less subjective.  To learn the documentation elements required by each set of guidelines, begin here.

CMS Fraud and Abuse - Routine staff training in fraud and abuse is mandatory.  This MLN publication contains succinct information on topics such as anti-kickback and self referral laws.  It also provides links to other online resources.

Cultural Competency Training - This training is offered through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services "in order to help achieve its mission to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of effective health policies and programs that help to eliminate disparities in health."

Healthspring, Inc. - Free fraud, waste and abuse training.  You can print a Healthspring attestation form for the course at the end.

Medicare Learning Network® Suite of Products and Resources for Billing and Coding Professionals.” The Suite contains easy-to-understand, accessible and free Medicare Program information developed especially for traditional Medicare providers.   There are four modules:  The Business of Medicare, Medicare Benefits and Services, Special Medicare Initiatives, and General Medicare Program Information and Resources.

Pain Management by Audio Digest - This 20 hour program covers up to date topics in pain management and techniques for appropriately testing and documenting pain management patients.
